Well, let's just say that I was prepared for random people coming into the church asking for help or money, phone calls from congregation members about flood recovery meetings, and people stopping by to see me at the church during my office hours with stories of addiction and traumatic life experiences, but calling an ambulance was certainly an unexpected way to start my week! I arrived back at the church after my lunch hour to find 2 women sitting at the side of the building. One approached me and asked if I could find a phone number for her for a community home because her friend had fallen, hit her head, and couldn't walk. My first response was, "Did you call 911?" No....of course not....so long story short, we ended up calling the center and an ambulance and she went to the hospital. This, of course, happened on my first official day of being in charge since the head pastor is out of town. Thank God Corey was there to help us because he was dropping me off! He was able to help this poor woman inside so she could sit down. Apparently she has a history of this medical issue and is on a handful of medications. So the moral of the story is, you never know who is going to show up at your door, especially at the church!
